Scott Donaton is a veteran content creator and marketing executive who delivers strategic solutions to brands across platforms, including television, web, mobile, social, film, and music. As President and CEO of Ensemble, the branded entertainment arm of IPG Mediabrands, Scott works with both IPG and outside clients to develop collaborative, compelling content that marries creative thinking and production expertise with distribution muscle.
Donaton served as an executive producer of BMW's Alter/Egos original series and was instrumental in the development of Always Open, a web series for Denny's that starred such talents as Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sarah Silverman. He has also worked on creative programming for Denny's, Kia, Maybelline NY and Taco Bell, among others.
Prior to launching Ensemble in 2009, Scott served as publisher of Entertainment Weekly. During his tenure at the magazine, the title was named one of AdWeek's "Magazine Brand Leaders". He served as editor (1998-2006) and, later, publisher of Advertising Age, where he founded the digitial-media section as well as Ad Age China and Madison & Vine. In 2004, he authored a book on branded content, Madison & Vine: Why the Entertainment and Advertising Industries Must Converge to Survive.
Donaton's achievements have been widely recognized. Media Industry Newsletter named him one of the "21 Most Intriguing People in Media," citing his "uncanny ability to anticipate the next thing." He was also named to the Folio 40 in 2008, and was inducted into the American Advertising Federation's Advertising Hall of Achievement. Donaton is a signature columnist for Direct Marketing News, a guest writer for various media outlets and a frequent speaker in national media and at industry conferences.
