CASE STUDY - IKEA: Fix This KitchenOctober 23, 2012 - 3:20 PM to 3:40 PM ROOM: WHARTON BALLROOM
Many aspiring household chefs have faced the quandary of trying to cook a meal worthy of a three-star Michelin restaurant in a no-star kitchen. With Fix This Kitchen, a six-episode reality series that aired on A&E and was sponsored by Swedish furniture powerhouse IKEA, celebrity Chef Eric Greenspan and superstar designer Nicole Facciuto surprise frustrated household cooks with complete IKEA kitchen makeovers, transforming outdated and inadequate kitchens into eye-catching, functional spaces worthy of a gourmet. It's now a format with legs, making the move to Europe earlier this year and airing on SBS 6 in the Netherlands, with other international versions in development. In this case study, Chet Fenster, managing partner of MEC Entertainment, reveals how this particular combination of ingredients - home reno/lifestyle programming, a forward-thinking client and a great idea - cooked up a winning recipe.
